Meet the 6th Grade Teachers
Hola! I'm Mr. Hays.
I am really looking forward to teaching 6th grade math at DC West Middle! My initial teaching job was at DC West upon its formation many moons ago. I started off teaching Science and PE at the 5th and 6th grade levels, but settled on 5th and 6th grade Science. Following my first stint at DC West, I taught 5 th grade Math, Science, and Reading at Westmoor Elementary in Scottsbluff for 3 years. After moving to Beatrice, I became a personal trainer at Anytime Fitness. I am really excited to be getting back into Education at Douglas County West! I have a 19-year-old daughter, Maya, who attends Creighton University in the nursing field. She is also on the Waterloo Volunteer Fire Department. I am so proud of her!
In my free time I enjoy running, lifting weights, hiking, making dash cam videos, playing with my two dogs (Chewy and Soni), and working in the yard. I’m also an avid Husker fan! GBR!

Hi there, I am Mrs. Siegrist.
Hi there, I am Mrs. Siegrist!
I am the 6th grade English Language Arts teacher here at DC West! I attended Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, South Dakota, where I earned my Bachelors in Elementary Education and Special Education. This is my 3rd year teaching and 2nd year at DC West. I was born and raised in Lennox, South Dakota, a town very similar to the size of Valley. I absolutely love teaching 6th grade and am looking forward to getting to know you this year!
In my spare time I enjoy reading, shopping, hiking, and learning how to propagate different plants. My husband and I also enjoy checking out new coffee shops and restaurants in Omaha.

Hi! I'm Mrs. Reker!
This is my 18th year as the middle school science teacher at DC West! I live in North Bend with my husband, Barry, and my 3 dogs; Granby, Potter and Bellatrix. I have a 20 year old daughter, Joslyn, who is a junior psychology student at UNO.
When I’m not teaching, I enjoy; camping, landscaping, hiking with my dogs and boating.

Hey Falcon Family, I Am Mr. Zimmer.
I am thrilled to be entering my 7th year of teaching. This will be my fifth year at DC West. I am originally from Kearney, NE. I earned my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Special Education from Northwest Missouri State University. I also ran track and cross country while in college and continue to run competitively. I recently earned my master's degree from UNK as an Inclusion and Collaboration Specialist. My first two years of teaching were spent at Cody Elementary in the Millard School District. There I taught 3rd grade and special education.
I am the oldest of two kids. My sister, Kamryn, is a registered dietician and lives in Kansas City, MO. My mom works on the UNK campus in the student leadership department, and my dad teaches 8th-grade American history and coaches basketball and cross country.
I always enjoy training for various races, golfing, reading, and spending time with my lovely wife, Miranda. She is the Director of Pediatrics at Endless Journey Hospice. We have a cuddly dog named Colt, who keeps us happy and busy. I am excited to be on this journey with my fellow Falcons!
